Blue Sky Sunrays
Blue Sky Sports Center hosted the first ever Indoor Women’s Semi-Pro Soccer Game on Saturday, July 18th in The Colony, TX and played to a sold out crowd. The Blue Sky Sunrays were the host team and dominated the game throughout. Leading 3-0 at the end of the first quarter and 7-0 at the end of the 2nd quarter, the team never looked back. Constantly attacking the Austin Wildcats goal and keeper, the Sunrays wore down the opponent by halftime. The final score was 11-1 with the Wildcats scoring late in the 4th quarter. Player of the game honors for the Sunrays went to Debora Valeri with 2 goals and 1 assist. Debora, along with Teresa Eamma both have 5 total goals between them so far in the early stages of the WISL. Peter Brody, owner of Blue Sky Sports Center commented “I was very pleased at the turnout for the first home game.”
The game was very fast paced and an exciting game and although the score was one-sided it was a fun and entertaining game to watch. The atmosphere was one of a professional nature from introductions of the players and referees at the start of the game, to the playing of the National Anthem and contests between quarters with spectators picked out of the stands.
The Blue Sky Sunrays began their season last weekend, July 11th in Austin, Texas where they played the Austin Ampd to a 6-3 win with Teresa Eamma being named Player of the Game with the first Hat Trick in WISL history. With the win this past Saturday the Sunrays lead the league with a 2-0 record and play their 2nd home game this coming Saturday, July 25th at 3:15 at Blue Sky Sports Center in The Colony.
